Last
night was one of the best times I’ve had in college. Not that there are many to
choose from. I know I may be considered a “party virgin” in comparison to the
majority of college students, and I’m O.K. with that label. This post is not
about a sudden change of heart. Well, maybe it is, but not in the way you’ve
been lead to believe. Last night, at Bosom (one of the 3 “clubs” in the Urbino
area, the other two being Blackjack and El Piquero), I really let loose for the
first time on a dance floor. Now, I know I’ve written about this before (see
Napoleon post), but this time it was different. I decided to take those “moves”
I’d been doing in private in my rooms here in Urbino and back at Assumption and
Redding, and test them out. And you know what, my group of friends seemed to
love my enthusiasm! As the tracks roared on, I realized something that I’ve
known before but never had the courage to really act upon: the great thing
about EDM is that it’s all about exploring your highest emotional highs, trying
to reach the pinnacle of happiness and to comprehend it. That’s what this music
was made for, and dancing is the tool we use for exploration. In a sense, being
on the dance floor is a spiritual experience. The fact that it’s a communal
experience makes it even stronger. So why need I be afraid of “going to
worship?” The feelings that EDM gives you weren’t meant to be bottled up. I
will use last night as a point of reference for the rest of my life.
I’d
like to thank Faith in a particular way for inspiring this post. Thank you,
Faith, for the compliment. I know this might sound cliché, but it really did
blow open a door in mind. For the amount of love you share with others, you
deserve the world. I, for one, am so
thankful to have met you, and you can certainly count me as one of your biggest
fans. The important thing about this life is that you live it true to yourself,
the AWESOME person that you are ( :
